I will never be able to replace him, I lost my buddy and best dog I've ever had. He convinced so many people of how wonderful pit bulls could be. I miss him just as much today. He passed on Nov 6th 2015

I can remember when I held Maggie for the first time. My dad and I wanted to get a poodle and we had the intention of only getting one dog, but when the lady placed one in my arms and one in my dads arms, that was it, we knew we had to take her and her brother Otis with us. Ever since she was 6 months old, she was the sweetest and most docile dog ever. she always wanted to be cuddled and was extremely protective. Maggie brought so much joy and love to my life. Maggie is and will forever be my beautiful girl. I miss you everyday but I know you are no longer in pain. R.I.P My Sweet Maggie

RIP my beautiful, faithful, loyal, steady Summer. 2003 - 25 Nov 2016.
I have dreaded this day since last Oct when we were told you had inoperable tumors all over your liver. I tried to brace myself for the inevitable but by the Grace of God, you kept going & we had one more glorious year with you.
I found you in the summer of 2004, in a rural area where I was visiting families as part of my job. Apparently you just appeared one day along with a much smaller companion. The little one disappeared but you remained, hanging out in an area of scrubby trees & undergrowth along a road which big trucks used on a daily basis. I was afraid for you. I suspected that you had been dumped there. I started bringing you food & you began to greet my car. After 6 weeks, my job was over but I knew I could not leave you behind, but how to get you in my car? You were a big dog & let's just say I had a healthy respect for you. I brought some reinforcements with me & the hot dogs got you in the car.
Little did I know how deep your fear of abandonment was. It took about a year for you to realize I would never leave you. You were terrified of leaving the house. Trips to the vet were a struggle. Once you were accidentally locked out at night when all the other dogs came in. In a panic you chewed & pawed at the gate until you were able to get through & ran around to the front door where we found you waiting in the morning along with deep scratches in the door. I felt terrible that you had experienced such fear.
You were a bag of bones when I found you & I did overcompensate in giving you lots of food. You surprised me with a beautiful cinnamon, thick fluffy coat which came in with your improved diet. We had a special bond, you & I. You were always very protective of me and hyper vigilant of our surroundings. I think you were born to protect your loved ones. Your instinct was very strong & you always guarded the door, whether it was the front door or our bedroom door. You never showed any signs of aggression but in your quiet way you demonstrated that you were a force to be reckoned with.
In the end, you had to leave me. The vacuum left by the absence of your loving & faithful presence is very difficult to accept. I will forever miss your little happy dance every time I came home. I will miss stroking those silky soft ears with the crazy tufts of fur sticking out that I called Einstein ears. I will miss your needing to know where I was in the house & making sure you were there too. I will miss your gloriously beautiful fur coat, your big, strong paws, also with tufts of fur & the way your eyes looked at me with utter adoration. I know you knew how much I loved you. I talked to you every day. Although this hurts so much I would do it all over again to make all these memories with you. My heart is broken but I know I will be reunited with you one day & you will be waiting. I love you Summer.

Alrighty, here is to my boy! It's been five days since the dog of a lifetime jumped up to heaven and it's still weird to think about, but this guy deserves to have his story told!

When one thinks of the perfect dog, they might have ideas of an animal who never barked, who never cried, who knows all the tricks (sit, stand, roll, shake, hi-five, hug, play dead, praise the Lord, back up, get your bone, touch, wait, stay, spin), who greets every person and day with the biggest smile, who knows how to be a puppy, but also knows when to be calm, who could tell when you are sad and would throw his arms on you to try to cheer you up, and who never needs a leash to walk on because he would always stay by your side. This wasn't an idea of a dog for me. This was MY dog. This was Duke and this was the family member who I spent ten years with. So who was he? Yes, he was needy. Yes, he occasionally got a bad case of fleas, and yes, he would give you the stare of disappointment if you ever left him in the house alone, but you've never met a better dog. To this day, he is the only golden retriever who I know that is scared of going more than one foot into the water, but that never stopped him from trying to follow just to stay close. He loved going on hikes and we loved taking him because he didn't need to be on a leash. He was silly (he is silly) and he always got excited when I came home from college.

It's funny to look at the amount of tricks that he knew and think about all of the things that I taught him, that my family taught him, but the truth is, the list of things that he taught us is way more extensive. He taught us love, respect, kindness, to always smile, to enjoy every day (and every walk), that playing fetch doesn't mean that you have to return the ball after it is thrown, to be energetic and to be there for one another when times get hard and feel impossible.

This isn't a sad day. In fact, the only thing that is sad about it is the fact that others didn't experience what we did and that Duke could only be one dog. So don't be sad for me. A decade of him is far more than anything that a dog owner could ask for. Love your pets, for they only know how to love you back. And to you my boy, I'm hoping that God has got a special plot up in heaven for you with all of the lizards to chase and all of the trees to pee on!

I'll never forget you and every last breath that you devoted to me.

I love you always my boy. I'll see you soon... sit, stay, rest.

In 2006, I rescued a litter of kittens. There were 2 boys a tiger (Tiger), a black with white on his chest (Star), and a girl tiger, (Twinkle).  I wasn’t going to keep them, but they call were sick and by the time they improved, they were much older, as they got sick one right after another, so I kept them. Twinkle was the mom of the bunch and “made” the boys sit for their cleaning.  I used to call them the three amigos. Where ever you looked in the house, there was a “cluster” of cats cleaning each other or sleeping together.  Twinkle was my cuddle buddy at night.  I would wake to find her curled up in the crook of my arm as I slept.  Twinkle was also my guardian, or so it seemed. Everywhere I was in the house, there she was close to me, just observing me or sleeping.  She enjoyed sleeping anywhere it was warm and I would often find her sleeping on my computer. We moved from our home in August  2014 into another home.  Shortly after, I noticed she was getting thinner and thinner even though she seemed to have a ravenous appetite.  She started looking really ill and then she started vomiting and having diarrhea.  I took her to the vet where they did blood work.  The blood work came back and it all “looked” normal, but the vet said it was a good possibility that she had cancer. She gave me something to help with her vomiting and some antibiotics to see if it will help .  The medications did nothing and she was getting worse.  At that time, it was the weekend and the vet was out of town for her own family emergency. The stand in vet at Affordable Vet Care heard the concern in my voice and offered to come to my house to put her down because she was obviously not improving and only getting worse by the hour. When the alternate vet got to my house, I asked him if it was possible that she had eaten something she shouldn’t have and she had a bowel obstruction causing her problem.  He did a thorough exam and alerted me to the fact that he felt “something”.  He offered to take her in to do exploratory surgery to see if there was an obstruction. It there was, he would remove it, if he found something more sinister, he would put her to sleep on the table.  I took Twinkle the next day, October 16th, 2014 and that was the last time I saw her. The call came and he told me that there was a large cancerous “dead” section of her intestine and the "something" he felt was a lymph node.  At that point, I decided to lay her to rest. My heart will never forget my sweet Twinkle and her brothers will, for the rest of their lives, be dirty. Rest in peace my sweet girl.   THANK YOU AFFORDABLE VET CARE - These folks were not only affordable, they were extremely compassionate as well. I can't say enough about them.

Tiger

After Twinkle passed, Tiger became by cuddle buddy.  I used to call him my "Hello Kitty alarm", because he would come up around 6 a.m. and lay on my pillow, knead and lick my hair.  I would wake up and say "hello kitty!".  Back in 2010, he got out of the house by accident.  Tiger was a lover, not a fighter, but apparently some animal wanted to fight him.  I found him 2 days later.  He had gotten bitten by an animal and had an abscess on the side of his abdomen.  I took him to the vet where they drained it, left a drain in for a while and put him on antibiotics.  From that time on, the "infection" would move around his body.  I brought him back to the vet on several occasions to have them put him on antibiotics.  As soon as he was off, the "infection" took hold again.  A new abscess would open up on his belly, and drain.  I started make him colloidal silver, which I gave to him on a daily basis in small doses, and this seemed to keep the infection from flaring.  He still had pockets of infection that would ooze and then go away.  It literally moved around his body, but only staying to his torso.  He continued to be a happy, healthy appearing kitty, playing and not acting sick at all until the morning of October 1st, 2017.  He woke me up as usual at 6 a.m. and I loved on him for a few minutes.  Then I heard him jump down.  My son came in around 9 a.m. to give me a hug, stepped over the cat and gave me a kiss.  He stepped over Tiger who was lying next to my bed and crouched down to scratch and love on him.  Suddenly, I heard a startled sound in his voice as he said, uh....mom?!  I looked down to see Tiger was dead on the floor.  His body was cooling and stiffening.  I was in shock as my seemingly healthy kitty just dropped dead.  It was the saddest, most heart breaking thing.  I am still so heartbroken over his death.  Rest in peace Tiger.
